Left 4 Dead Morning
Got up early this morning to join my brothers and a bunch of Christian guys at the game shop a friend of ours owns. Every couple of months we get together to kill zombies in Left 4 Dead 2 or Nazi Zombies in Black Ops or Call of Duty: World at World.
It’s always a fun time, even if you wake up feeling like crap and then are sorta out of it the rest of the day for playing such a high energy game for a few hours. I know video games often get a bad rap, and there are plenty of people out there who have been influenced by feminist theology into believing that all violence is inherently wicked and evil, so therefore Christians and especially men should have no part of it, but we all look forward to this time of fellowship amongst college age and mid-thirties guys. It’s a chance to unwind and relax, and do something together that we all enjoy.
Left 4 Dead 2 is a fun game. I remember being blown away by the original, but only enjoyed it when I was playing with multiple people. The sequel is largely the same, as the game really shines when you have up to 8 people playing. The most fun is when we play 4 humans vs 4 “infected”, or pseudo zombies that have special abilities. It’s a fun way of challenging each other to do better, and games can get intense.
That said…as great as Left 4 Dead 2 and Portal are…Valve, we really really would much rather have Half-Life 2: Episode 3 or even Half-Life 3. Priorities!
